Introduction
For many rural families, livestock is more than an asset—it’s a means of survival. To support vulnerable communities in Sindh, the Danish Red Cross partnered with Global Engineering Links (GEL) to provide donkeys for agricultural and transport purposes.
Project Overview
The project focused on supplying healthy young donkeys to families in Dadu district, enabling them to carry loads, support farming, and enhance livelihoods.
Scope of Work
- Procurement of healthy donkeys between 12–18 months of age
- Veterinary checks to ensure animals were strong and disease-free
- Safe delivery to designated communities
- Orientation for beneficiaries on animal care
Challenges and Solutions
Transporting livestock over long distances without compromising health required careful planning. GEL ensured veterinary checks at every stage of procurement and delivery.
Impact
The donkeys provided families with sustainable means of transport, improved farming output, and reduced manual labor burdens.
Conclusion
This initiative highlighted GEL’s role in implementing humanitarian projects that directly uplift rural households.
